Pastor Bryce Johnson
Pastor Bryce Johnson surrendered to God’s call to preach at 18 years of age while at a teen camp following his high school graduation. He attended Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City where He majored in Pastoral Theology and minored in Youth Ministries. After graduating from college, he came to Ellicott Baptist Church and served on the leadership staff full-time for 6 years as the associate pastor. Three of those years he was given the opportunity to serve as the youth pastor as well. After 6 years as the associate pastor, in 2024 Ellicott Baptist Church called him to be the next pastor of the church.
Hannah and Bryce have known each other since they were children and were friends during their childhood years. Hannah grew up in Ellicott Baptist Church, and Bryce and his family started attending when Bryce was 10 years old. After high school, Hannah and Bryce both attended Heartland Baptist Bible College and pursued God’s individual direction for their lives. During their Sophomore year of college, God started to move them from a friendship into a relationship. In their senior year they got engaged, and after graduation they were married on September 7th, 2018.
They truly enjoy the simple things in life like running errands together, watching shows together in the evenings, going on ice cream runs after church on Sundays, taking their dogs on walks, working on a puzzle together, and going on weekend getaways up to Breckenridge, CO. Ultimately, what makes your life enjoyable isn’t just about what you do, it is also about who you are with. And for Bryce, he knows he has the best person to go through life with.
Josiah Rice
Josiah Rice is Ellicott Baptist Church’s music pastor. He oversees all musical decisions and ministries at the church. He is originally from Georgia and moved to Ellicott, Colorado in 2021. He surrendered his life to God’s calling at 21 years of age during his sophomore at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, where he majored in Music with a directive in Minister of Music. After Josiah moved to Ellicott, he quickly began serving in whatever ministry was available at Ellicott Baptist Church. He became the choir director in October of 2021, where he served for the past 3 years, until transitioning to the Music Pastor in September of 2024.
Kimberlin and Josiah met at Heartland Baptist Bible College. At first they didn’t like each other, but God worked on both of them and brought them into a relationship. In November of 2019, Kimberlin was diagnosed with breast cancer and returned home to Ellicott for treatment while Josiah remained at college. They spent the next 18 months in a long distance relationship, traveling to see each other whenever possible. They were married on May 29, 2021 and lived in Ellicott. Together they adopted two cats, Miso and Sasha. They went on many trips, and their favorite activities were watching shows together, trying out new coffee shops, and perusing book stores. They collected a sizeable library of books. On June 21, 2024, Kimberlin arrived home in heaven after a 4 ½ year battle with metastatic breast cancer. They had a full marriage and loved being married.
During the day, Josiah works as a lead furnace technician for a local heating/cooling company. He is a coffee connoisseur and enjoys studying the art of making delicious coffee with his collection of specialized coffee gadgets. He loves to read books, arrange music, and also plays the violin, guitar, and ukulele.
